There are many things that are traditionally "scary" and, as such, considered fair game for Halloween decorations, such as bats, spiders, skeletons, and witches. But most people aren't actually scared of these things.

I'm having a Really Scary party here in my LJ. Why don't you come in and help decorate?

Come in the door with the big papier-mache hypodermic needle... you'll find all kinds of craft supplies under the colorful cardboard wasp. Don't hit your head on the giant inflated mushroom cloud.

Some nice pictures of authentic English one-farthing coins, circa 1949. They may not look scary, but thanks to Jo Walton they're giving me the shivers.

I'll make a 2x-scale mockup of a dentist's drill and a six-foot cardboard envelope from the IRS.

I'm not coming in there; you have a wasp. This leads me to suspect there may also be sharks and someone talking about their eye operation.

There are definitely some eye operation pictures or maybe a video being projected on a wall.

Okay, so no spiders then? Cool, nothing else really bothers me ... unless the place is full of people wearing clothing with lots of buttons, coz, y'know, they are the devil's work, especially those huge things that are a throwback to the 50s, and I'm liable to wander off into a corner somewhere to throw up - which might not be scary but would certainly gross many people out. :)

Now I'm getting out the red paint to make a "rubber stamp" on the envelope saying AUDIT.

Why do I hear Cheney's voice chanting "we don't need another election."

And Stephanie is very frightened by that book on parenting written by Brittany Spears mother sitting on the coffee table.
