Posting at a coin-op Internet terminal (with a really funky Japanese keyboard that apparently lacks an apostrophe key) in the sports bar of our hotel in the town of Narita. So far we've toured a temple (actually a temple complex, many ancient buildings, some humongous, set in a beautiful nature park), visited the national historical museum (very frustrating to not be able to read any of the text, and the English audio guide was not much help), and eaten some strange and wonderful things. Octopus fritters, yum. Little bits of tempura chicken with a mustard sauce on top of rice balls on seaweed, yum. Sushi the size of your hand, double yum. Heading to Yokohama for the convention tomorrow.
