Are we there yet?

Still in DC, crashing at the lovely home of the extremely generous John and Peggy Rae Sapienza. Currently (3am) wide awake due to jet lag. Just snagged seats on a Monday 12/22 flight home via Chicago (better than the 11-hour marathon via Newark and Chicago that they originally booked us on, though arriving a little later). Hope the weather will allow this itinerary to actually happen. Do not expect to see our luggage until we arrive in Portland (or later), but we have obtained toothbrushes and our hosts have offered laundry facilities. I have my phone, my laptop, and my camera. Under the circumstances we are doing pretty well.

Thanks to all who have offered assistance and moral support. We have excellent friends.
