Does one need to have ever seen an episode of the TV series to enjoy it? I know next to nothing about the premise and zero about the characters. But I do yearn for a good sf yarn.

It's not out yet, this was a preview showing (lacking credits, music, and some special effects). General release is scheduled for September 30, I believe.
