I saw it last night in Waukesha, with Cicatrice, Kelly, Tom Cason, Mary Prince, Kyym Kemple, and some more of the usual Milwaukee fandom suspects.

Expect to be impressed, amused and moved.

Can't Stop The Signal!

Firefly was a television series from Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. It only lasted one season, but it attracted fanatical support because it was damn good. The DVD set of the complete series sold really well -- so well that Universal let Joss make a movie out of it. That movie, Serenity, opens Friday. I have seen a preview of the movie and I recommend it highly.

I suggest you rent the DVD set and watch the first couple of episodes before seeing the movie. You'll be able to understand the movie without seeing the series first, but you'll enjoy it more if you already know something about the characters.

Hmm, I don't think I'm interested enough to take action to watch something I'm not interested in, if you know what I mean (I'm not very interested in watching anything at all, usually; that's the main reason I don't have a TV). What I've heard of the movie makes me think it's something I don't want to see anyway. But thanks all the same :-)

Insofar as the studios judge how well a movie does by opening weekend, how many times are we going to see the Big Damn Movie in a three-day period? I'm thinking three times, myself.
