jaylake, and confirmed by several others, LJ is currently having intermittent problems emailing comments to people. So if you haven't received as many comments lately as usual, that might be why.
Until this is fixed, you might want to check your Recent Comments page (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/recent_comments.bml -- must be logged in to play) every once in a while. It shows the 10 most recent comments in your journal and the 10 most recent comments you've posted.
