As you may be aware (I wasn't!), US postage rates are going up on January 8, to 39¢ for the first ounce and 24¢ for each subsequent ounce. If you have a lot of stamps for the old rates lying around (I do!), you might find the following conversion table handy.

OuncesPostage37¢23¢1ยข
1$0.39102
2$0.63113
3$0.87124
4$1.11300
5$1.35311
6$1.59322
7$1.83333
8$2.07344
9$2.31520
10$2.55531

I overheard that at the post office in early December, but it doesn't seem to be general knowledge, even now, 1 week before the increase.

I guess we're all too stunned with the up and down price of gasoline to really care anymore.

My question, as someone who lives in Canada and sends out tons of SASE's with queries, has the international rate gone up as well? I currently have a couple of dozen .60 cent stamps. I don't want to send out anything until I know if I need to order some more stamps. If anyone can answer this it would be greatly appreciated.
