Here is The Plan for completing novel #2:

I have a large printout of this on the wall near my writing chair. I will put a star on the calendar for every day that I write 1000 or more words or spend at least an hour and a half editing.

It has stars on every day so far.

Meanwhile... [livejournal.com profile] eddvick has blogged his recent trip to Portland, including our expedition to Glowing Greens, a pirate-themed underground black-lighted (blacklit?) miniature golf course. It was, as [livejournal.com profile] amy_thomson said, like playing mini-golf in a cheap carnival dark ride, but it was fun and very silly.

And if Edd ever invites you to mini-golf? Beware. Total shark.

I am such the writing nerd that I just went "ooh, shiny!!" to that calendar. *facepalm*

I think I should make something like that for myself. I've been doing good since 1/1 by doing some writing work every day so far, but I should probably give myself a stricter schedule than "do something from 7pm to 9pm." ;)

My gosh, a schedule. I guess that demonstrates that writing really is more perspiration than inspiration.

When I lived in Vonda's basement (or as she put it, when she lived in Jane's garret), I saw similar such calendars when she was working on a book. I think the last book of the Starfarers series not only had a personal work calendar, but timelines for each character.

I need to do a calendar like that for the Halloween book and another for the novel and another for... oh hell...

That's it. I'm wallpapering the office in calendar pages.

Nonono. shark in a former life. You'll recall I blew the first two holes until I managed to channel my former self.

That was fun. Let's do it again. And mucho good luck on your novel. I really must write one of those some time...

Everyone is missing the big question:

what color stars? Silver for over 1000, gold for 2000, maybe?
