OryCon 28: 11/17-19, same hotel as last year

According to Linda Pilcher: "OSFCI is pleased to announce that Orycon 28 will be held November 17-19, 2006 at the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront. This is the same fine facility that hosted Orycon 27 in November of this year."

I have no further information at this time, but I thought the folks on my flist would like to know.

Now I can try to calculate the odds of whether I will have class that weekend... :D And, although I had some issues with the downtown hotel, I'm kinda glad it's not in Vancouver!

... because blowing up a hotel that mostly works makes baby Cthulhu eat convention committees.

I'll bet you thought I was going to say 'cry,' didn't you? Nothing makes baby Cthulhu cry

As the exercise at SMOFcon showed, the Marriott is the best of a bad lot. It gives me another reason to wish I'd won the mega-lottery: I could have donated a chunk of it to OSFCI, which could then buy the vacant Columbia River hotel. We could rename it the Tucker, remodel it to suit ourselves, hire a management company to run it, and never have to worry about being classed with dog and cat shows.

Of course, this is "how to make a small fortune in the hospitality industry." (Start with a large fortune and buy a hotel.)

Just curious -- anybody heard any new rumors about what they are doing with the vacant one? I drive by there every day on my commute, and nothing ever seems to be happening. Perhaps they just fenced it off and forgot it was there?
