I want to try LJ Talk. I set up a Jabber account in iChat with davidlevine@livejournal.com as my login, my LJ password as the password, livejournal.com as the server, port 5222, and SSL turned off. When I try to connect, I get this error: "iChat was unable to login to the Jabber service because your screen name or password was incorrect."

Is there an LJ Talk community where I could be asking this question more productively?

ETA: Apparently the fix is to uncheck the "Use my machine name" checkbox under "Location:". Weird.

I have a jabber account, but an old Jabbernaut program (stuck on OS9.22). I can't log in to the livejournal server because of a faulty password. I'm using my LJ password, too.

You might want to try the Jabber IM (http://community.livejournal.com/jabber_im/) community.

drplokta is having the same problem. Well, they did warn us that it's not ready for prime time. I guess I'll just be patient.

Sorry it's not very useful information but Gaim 2.0.0 Beta3 is working for me, at least on LJ. Connecting to googletalk is failing for me recently.

I've not been able to connect to LJ chat with iChat for several days. I think they've broken something.

It is working with Trillian Pro. I think you might be right,that there are still a few bugs to iron out.

I found your post by searching in Google about this issue, I'd like to connect to LJ chat using iChat but I get the exact errors you get. I tried with Adium (os X) and it works just fine. Seems like its an issue with iChat only :P

I'm still having the same problem. I've submitted a support request but so far no one's done anything about it other than to add "[ichat]" to the subject.

That's the price we have to pay for being Mac users (the minority) it's ok, I rather use Adium or any other Jabber client instead of using Winblows :P
