[livejournal.com profile] kateyule left the convention (Denver) this morning to be with her father, who is in a hospital in Spokane with an aortic aneurism. He will probably be OK but it's a scary time. Please send her your good thoughts, as she's probably going to be spending much of today trying to convince the airlines to let her get there from here.

I will be departing for Portland on Monday, as originally scheduled.

My mother had to have an aortic aneurysm repaired almost three years ago, and yes, it was a very scary time. What I can offer though, is that while the time before surgery was absolutely terrifying, once she made it through surgery, her recovery was much faster than I had thought.

Definitely sending Kate lots of good thoughts.

Thoughts for both of you--for Kate, during this scary time, and for you, worrying about both of them. Hopefully all will be well in the long run. I have no experience with aortic aneurisms, so can't offer any been there, done that, advice.

Both of you take care of yourselves....

Thinking especially warm thoughts today. May it all work out well, in both the travels and travails.

David, I saw you in Denver at the airport yesterday (I was coming back from WisCon) but with the distance separating us and the ambient noise, I couldn't raise my voice enough to catch you.

My very best to Kate and her father, and I hope your flight home went smoothly.

We're airport shadow twins!

Yeah, wish we could have chatted! My flight was only delayed 15 minutes or so, but even a "Hey, how ya doin'" with light arm punching would have been cool.
