Juanita Sharp has died.

I wouldn't have read the obituary above except that someone on the OryCon mailing list pointed to it. Juanita was a lifelong SF fan who helped run the Worldcon when it was in Portland in 1950.

She lived just down the block. I never knew. She was just this nice old lady who had a huge garden and walked her little dog Willy every day.

I never knew.

Damn.

I'm sorry to hear that, David. Why do we always find out about this stuff when it is too late to do anything about it?

Sad! I wonder who lives near me? I didn't know John Berkey lived in the Minneapolis area until Greg Ketter told me when we had him as a Minicon Artist Guest of Honor.

Sounds like Juanita Sharp met her husband through fandom, but they didn't stay involved.

A couple of years ago, Windycon invited Stephen Martiniere to be our artist GoH. It wasn't until I contacted him to send him some information that we discovered he was living in the Chicago area.
