As you may know, LiveJournal has added the ability to flag posts and journals as "adult content." What you may not know is that everyone's account was set by default to "collapse" (like an lj-cut) adult content. To change this setting, go to the bottom of this page: http://www.livejournal.com/manage/settings/

Extra special added surprise: if your birthdate is not set, the options to show adult content are disabled. (Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] calimac for this update.)

Comments are screened. The purpose of this post is to inform people about how the software works (mechanism), not to provide a place to rant about it (policy). (I don't like it either.)

Update: what it actually does, if you haven't set your birthdate, is display the dropdown menu for the various collapse-noncollapse option, but refuse to allow you to click on any of the other options - without explaining why. Even having read your post, my first thought was that this was a glitch in the system.

Which I thank you for, as I was unable to figure out why the heck I hadn't been able to set that option until I read your update.
